Question of the Week: Is base coat an essential step for you when wearing nail polish? If so, what are some of your favorites?
Jess’ Answer : I have to admit, I don’t use a base coat on the regular. If I’m in the middle of a huge swatch fest where I know I’m taking the polish off immediately, I won’t take the extra step to apply one. The ONLY rare time that I will put one on while swatching, is if I’m wearing blues or teals. These shades tend to stain your nails in a matter of seconds. However, if I am doing a mani that I plan on keeping on for awhile I will absolutely use one! Some of my top picks are :

Yes base coat is essential step for me when wearing a nail polish. At the moment I like OPI Nail Envy.
A base coat is totally a must for me. My polish never lasts without one. Lol
Even if swatching, I almost always put one on – ya never know what’s going to stain. And now that I’m using a gel polish on my natural nail as a base for nail polish and art, a base coat helps the polish to stick. Right now, I’m using Ulta professional base coat. I picked it up on sale for $2, and I love it!
Base coat is essential for me, and so is top coat, unless the polish has a unique finish.
I don’t do a lot of nail polish posts on my blog, so I don’t really do swatch-a-thons. I think I would skip it if that is what I was doing and I didn’t want the polish to last.
