I cannot express enough how important it is to use sunscreen on a daily basis – Especially in the summertime or if you have children! Luckily, Neutrogena has an incredible range of products for me to choose from and I know I can find something that works best for myself and my family.
The Wet Skin line from Neutrogena is an instant favorite of mine. I know I can put it on Rylan before he goes into the pool and it will protect him no matter what. Once you apply the sunscreen to the skin, it forms a protective barrier that visibly repels water. I also enjoy the fact that this can be applied while wet or dry. Ry usually goes in and out of the pool every few minutes, so I know whenever I need to reapply, his skin will be protected even if he’s still soaking wet!
The Wet Skin line for kids has an SPF of 70+ which is AWESOME and the Wet Skin for adults has an SPF of 85+. I have the type of skin that burns instantly, so that is perfect for me!
Of course I want to be able to protect my face as well so we have been testing out the Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid Lotion Sunscreen and it works like a charm! It’s very light weight and doesn’t make my face sticky or feel like I’m wearing a heavy layer of sunscreen on it. This lotion is oil free and won’t cause break outs (Can I get a heck yeah?!)
Here are some extra tips as to why sunscreen is the most IMPORTANT thing you should be wearing all Summer long!
Red: avoid sunburn
o Lotions, sprays, sticks – pick your protection! You should want to wear your sunscreen, so pick something that suits your lifestyle.
o The number one cause of premature skin aging and skin cancer is sun exposure. That tan is not worth the damage.
o If you don’t believe us, take this as an example: sunscreen was applied to half of this apple and left in UV exposure. Look at the difference! http://dev.rprmc.com/public/Apple%20Imagery.pdf
· White: apply sunscreen
o 1 ounce x 2 hours = optimal protection.
o The FDA defines a single sunscreen application for the whole body as one ounce. In reality, people do not typically apply that much, so higher level SPFs provide a safeguard against under-application.
o According to a study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, lower SPFs provide less protection, and over time, the cumulative effect of sun exposure is significant. That’s why SPF 30+ formulas are very valuable in preventing sun damage.
· Blue: take a dip with water-resistant protection
o Selecting a water-resistant sunscreen allows you to retain the SPF value, even when wet. But don’t forget – you still have to apply every two hours, no matter what!
